Nice oak platter that came from a HUGE red oak tree that a storm took down in the spring of 2024. It was turned green (meaning the wood had a high moisture content) and as you will see in the photo, it developed a nice crack as it dried. It also has a really cool void which mother nature placed there all by herself. I loved this piece, and hated to toss it just because of the crack, so as you can see, I sewed the crack with leather twine and made it into a really cool feature. So with the “scar” and the natural hole it definitely has a lot of unique character!
